A man died after he was shot multiple times early Monday in northwest Indiana.

Officers responded about 12:30 a.m. to the 2000 block of McKinley Street in Gary and found a 25-year-old man laying outside near the street unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds, according to Gary police.

He was unable to be resuscitated at the scene and pronounced dead at 1:40 a.m., according to police and the Lake County coroner’s office.

Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots around 12:30 a.m.
