More than 300 flights have been canceled at O’Hare and Midway Thursday afternoon because of storms, and dozens more were experiencing delays.

At O’Hare, more than 265 flights had been canceled as of 4 p.m., according to the city’s Department of Aviation. Delays were averaging about 45 minutes for both inbound and outbound flights.

At Midway, 45 flights had been canceled and about 40 inbound and outbound flights were delayed about an hour.

The cancellations and delays are due to thunderstorms in the Chicago area, which are expected to last throughout the evening, according to the National Weather Service.
