Rauner on Sneed report about first lady: ‘Definitively baloney’

Gov. Bruce Rauner on Thursday dismissed a report by Chicago Sun-Times columnist Michael Sneed that Illinois’ first lady does not want her husband to seek re-election as “definitively baloney.”

“I heard about that report, “ the governor said in response to a reporter’s question at an unrelated news conference. “The one thing I’ll say about that report is it is definitively baloney.

“I’ll say that.”

Sneed reported in her column appearing in editions of Thursday’s Sun-Times that Diana Rauner “is tired of the nasty spotlight since the inauguration of her hugely wealthy husband in January 2015” and “wants out.”

Mrs. Rauner has told close friends that she hopes her husband does not seek a second term, Sneed reported.

“The Rauners have a good marriage and six kids, but all the criticism being lobbed at her husband — as well as a job which doesn’t leave a lot of time for family time — has to be very difficult,” a source told Sneed.
