A woman was struck by lightning and seriously injured Thursday afternoon in southwest suburban Bolingbrook.

The 34-year-old Berywn woman was walking south in the 300 block of Janes Avenue about 2 p.m. when she was struck by what appeared to be a lightning strike, according to Bolingbrook police.

The woman was unresponsive when officers arrived and performed CPR, according to police.

She was initially taken to a hospital nearby, and later transferred to Loyola University Medical Center in serious condition, police said.
