A man was charged with firing a gun in the direction of a group of people Wednesday evening in northwest suburban Elgin.
Elgin police responded to a reporting of multiple gunshots at 6:39 p.m. in the 600 block of St. Charles Street, according to a statement from Elgin police. Three men told police that a vehicle drove by and someone inside fired shots in their direction. None of the men were injured.
Evidence of a shooting was found and an unoccupied vehicle was struck, police said.
Detectives conducted an investigation and identified Francisco J. Espinoza, 25, of the 600 block of Elma Avenue as one of the offenders, according to police. Espinoza was taken into custody without incident Thursday in the 900 block of Ford Avenue.
Espinoza was charged with felony aggravated discharge of a firearm, police said. He was scheduled to appear in Kane County bond court Sunday morning.
