The same group of three men are believed to have robbed two Lake County businesses at gunpoint in June and July, according to a statement from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The first armed robbery occurred about 11 p.m. June 14 at Cardinal Wine and Liquor, 39172 N. Sheridan Road in north suburban Beach Park, according to the sheriff’s office. Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the business after three men wearing masks entered the store and robbed two employees at gunpoint. The robbers ran off on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The second robbery occurred about 2 a.m. July 1 at a BP gas station at 39105 Route 41 in north suburban Wadsworth, authorities said. Three men wearing masks entered the business and robbed the clerks at gunpoint. They ran off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

In both cases, sheriff’s deputies used a canine team to track the robbers to a location where it was believed they fled in a vehicle, according to the statement. In each robbery, the offenders wore similar clothing and masks covering their faces.
