An 18-year-old man from the south suburbs has been charged with fatally shooting a 17-year-old boy last weekend in Calumet City.

Jameaund Jones faces first-degree murder charges for the July 23 attack near Jason Griffin’s home in the 600 block of Hirsch Avenue, authorities said.

About 3:45 p.m. that day, officers responding to a call of a person shot found Griffin unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds, according to Calumet City police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He died at the scene.

Jones, of the 16600 bock of Oxford Drive in Markham, was arrested four days later, Cook County Circuit Court records show. Police have not released details on the circumstances of the shooting.

Judge James R. Brown ordered Jones held on a $2 million bond at a Saturday hearing, records show. His next court date is Tuesday.
