A series of burglaries in June in the Washington Park neighborhood on the South Side prompted police to issue a community alert Monday.

In the burglaries, unknown offenders kicked open doors or broke windows to enter residences, according to Chicago Police. Property was stolen in each case.

The burglaries were reported largely in Washington Park, but one was reported nearby in Grand Boulevard, police said.

The first burglary was reported at 3:52 p.m. June 19 in the first block of West Garfield Boulevard and was followed by burglaries reported at 4:30 p.m. June 20 in the 300 block of East 58th Street, between 5 p.m. and midnight June 25-26 in the 300 block of East 50th Street; at 1 p.m. June 26 in the 5300 block of South Wabash Avenue; and between 11 p.m. and 10:30 a.m. June 26-27 in the 5600 block of South Indiana Avenue.

A description of the offenders was not known, police said.

Anyone with information was asked to contact Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8384.
