A man was shot early Tuesday in the Avalon Park neighborhood on the South Side.

About 2:45 a.m., the 35-year-old walked into Advocate Trinity Hospital with a gunshot wound to the right leg, according to Chicago Police.

He told investigators he was standing outside in the 1900 block of East 87th Street when he heard gunfire and felt pain, police said.

A police source said the man is a convicted felon.
