A 23-year-old man was shot Wednesday afternoon in the South Shore neighborhood.

He was outside about 2:45 p.m. in the 1600 block of East 79th Street when a light-colored SUV drove by and someone inside opened fire, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

A police source said the victim was not cooperating with investigators.
