Protesters marching against police brutality Thursday evening in the Englewood neighborhood blocked outbound lanes on the Dan Ryan Expressway.

About 150 protesters walked up the on-ramp to I-90/I-94 at Garfield Boulevard about 6:40 p.m., blocking local outbound lanes, according to Illinois State police.

The protesters were marching against police brutality after police officers shot and killed Alton Sterling Tuesday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Philando Castile Wednesday in Falcon Heights, Minnesota.

Police said the protesters dispersed and the lanes were clear about 8:25 p.m.

The Black Lives Matter rally began about 6 p.m. near 51st Street and Wentworth Avenue. Another protest was scheduled for 5 p.m. near the Loop.
