Chicago Police are searching for someone who tried to a lure an 8-year-old boy July 2 in the Northwest Side Norwood Park neighborhood.

About 6:55 p.m., the boy went over a fence to retrieve his ball in the 6200 block of North Normandy when a male driving a green SUV stopped, got out and offered him a ride and candy, according to a community alert from police. The boy ran away and told his family.

The suspect was last seen driving away north on Normandy and east on West Palatine, police said. His green SUV – possibly a Chevrolet Avalanche – had white stripes and tinted windows in the back.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Area North detectives at (312) 744-8200.
