A man and woman were shot early Friday in a parking lot in west suburban Aurora.

The pair was leaving a business in the 700 block of North Lake Street about 12:50 a.m. when they were struck by gunfire, according to a statement from Aurora police.

The 37-year-old man and 25-year-old woman were driven to a hospital by an associate, police said. Their wounds do not appear to be life-threatening.

One of the victims said they were approached by two subjects, at least one of whom opened fire, police said. The other victim was not cooperating with investigators.

Police have not ruled out gang affiliation as a motive for the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Aurora Police Department Investigative Division at (630) 256-5500 or Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000.
