Police are cautioning Austin residents after two people were robbed in recent weeks by men carrying an “assault-type” rifle.

According to an alert from Area North detectives, the robberies occurred around 9 a.m. June 23 in the 4800 block of West West End and again just after 11 a.m. July 5 in the 4900 block of West Erie.

The robbers walked up and demanded property before running to a waiting vehicle, the police said.
