Two men were shot and wounded early Saturday along a bustling part of Milwaukee Avenue in Wicker Park.

They were standing on the sidewalk in the 1500 block of North Milwaukee just before 3 a.m. when they heard gunfire and realized they were shot, according to the police, who said one man, 26, was shot in the right leg and taken to Stroger Hospital. The other, 22, was taken to Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center with a graze wound to his right leg.

The shooting occurred just southeast of the busy North, Damen and Milwaukee intersection, an area that features several bars that stay open until 4 a.m.

Across the street at Flash Taco, a late-night Mexican restaurant frequented by those leaving nearby bars, patrons sat on the curb eating burritos and watching as the police helped one of the shooting victims into an ambulance.
