A man was shot during a robbery early Wednesday in the Fulton River District.

The 29-year-old was sleeping inside a vehicle about 3:25 a.m. under a viaduct in the 800 block of West Kinzie when someone walked up and announced a robbery, according to Chicago Police.

The robber then fired shots at the vehicle, striking the man in the abdomen, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.
