A man was shot Tuesday night in the Lawndale neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

The 23-year-old told investigators he was standing outside about 10:35 p.m. in the 4000 block of West Cermak when he heard gunfire and realized he’d been shot in the right hand, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken in good condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member.
