A 20-year-old woman was struck and killed by a semi truck while biking in the Noble Square neighborhood Tuesday morning.

The crash happened about 8:15 a.m. in the 800 block of North Milwaukee, according to Chicago Police.

The bicyclist, identified as Lisa Kuivinen, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she later died, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. She lived in the 3700 block of Wren Lane in northwest suburban Rolling Meadows, according to the medical examiner’s office.

The 37-year-old driver of the semi was cited for driving a vehicle on the bike path and failure to exercise due care to avoid a pedestrian in the roadway, police said.
