The police have issued a community alert warning Northwest Side residents that burglars have been posing as construction workers in North Park and Irving Park.

One man knocks on the victim’s door and claims to be a construction worker building speed bumps behind the victim’s home, according to the alert, which said that, as he distracts the victim, other men enter the home and take property.

The first incident happened at 2 p.m. Sunday in the 6000 block of North Ridgeway, police said, and the second at 2:45 p.m. Sunday in the 4200 block of North Spaulding.
