The death of a 2-month-old girl last week in the West Side Austin neighborhood has been ruled a homicide.

An autopsy found she died of blunt force trauma to the head from child abuse, and her death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Police said Tuesday morning the investigation was ongoing and no one was in custody.

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is investigating allegations of abuse and neglect, according to an agency spokeswoman. That investigation is pending.
