Authorities announced Tuesday that a Chicago man, arrested and charged with a northwest suburban burglary, was a fugitive wanted on several warrants out of Wisconsin.

Daniel Patrykus, 20, of the 6900 block of Laflin Avenue, was charged with residential burglary, possession of ammunition by a felon, possession of stolen property, and retail theft, according to a statement from Des Plaines police.

Authorities identified him as a possible suspect in a burglary in which several thousand rounds of ammunition and several firearms were stolen, police said. He was arrested near his Chicago home July 29 after trying to run from police.

Nearly 5,000 rounds of ammunition and other items, from the Des Plaines burglary and other retail thefts, were recovered from his home, police said. While in custody, Patrykus confessed to the burglary, but said he no longer had the stolen firearms, police said.

During the investigation, authorities learned Patrykus was wanted in Wisconsin on several warrants for escape, burglary, vehicle theft, probation violations, retail theft and unlawful use of a weapon, police said.

He will be extradited to Wisconsin after he is prosecuted in Illinois, police said.
