A man was seriously wounded in a shooting Friday night in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

The 21-year-old was outside about 9:30 p.m. in the 5500 block of West West End Avenue when someone walked up, shot at him and ran away, according to Chicago Police.

The man was shot in the shoulder and abdomen and grazed in the right leg, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member and the shooting might have been gang-related.
