A woman was shot early Saturday during an attempted robbery in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.

The 21-year-old was standing in the street about 6 a.m. in the 4600 block of West Monroe when a male walked up to her, pulled out a gun and demanded her belongings, according to Chicago Police. The woman ran away and the man fired at her before running off.

The woman was shot in the upper right leg and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
