A 40-year-old man was left in critical condition after he was shot in the Chatham neighborhood on the South Side early Saturday.

The man was walking through and alley in the 800 block of East 82nd Street about 1:40 a.m. when he was shot in the abdomen, police said.

He was listed in critical condition at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.
