Nine people were hospitalized after a car slammed into a Logan Square neighborhood restaurant Saturday night on the Northwest Side.

About 8:15 p.m., two cars crashed at the intersection of Fullerton and Kimball, sending one vehicle into the front entrance of Jibaritos y Mas, 3400 W. Fullerton Ave., according to police and fire officials.

Two adults were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition, and two children were take to Lurie Children’s Hospital in fair condition, fire officials said.

Three adults taken to Norwegian American Hospital and two to Illinois Masonic Medical Center were listed in good condition. Another nine people at the scene declined medical attention, fire officials said.

A woman who works at Jibaritos y Mas told reporters at the scene that a family of four was paying for their meal while about four workers were getting ready to close the restaurant when the crash happened.  She said a young girl was hurt by shattered glass.

The driver of the initial car involved in the crash, a 30-year-old man, was cited for striking fixed property, failure to stop at a red light and driving without a driver’s license or insurance, police said.
