An Austin man accused of molesting and trying to kiss a 5-year-old girl also tried to plant one on the female state investigator sent to look into on the allegations, Cook County prosecutors said.

Daniel Davis first began making lewd sexual remarks to the 22-year-old woman as she questioned him on Tuesday, Assistant State’s Attorney Becky Walters said.

Then Davis, 34, allegedly tried to kiss her.

The investigator with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services ran out of the building in the 5000 block of West Maypole.

But Davis pursued her to her car, Walters said.

The investigator got away and reported what happened.

The woman was following up on allegations that Davis inappropriately touched and tried to kiss a child he lives with a day before, Walters said.

The girl was in the front room with three other children when Davis touched her genitals over her clothing and told her he wanted to “play with it,” Walters said.

One of the other children and the victim told an adult cooking in the kitchen about what had happened, Walters said.

When the adult confronted Davis, he denied attacking the girl. But when there was a threat made to call the police, he apologized and left the residence, Walters said.

Police eventually were called, and the child was taken to the hospital.

The victim and a minor witness had their accounts of what had transpired Monday videotaped at the Children’s Advocacy Center.

Judge Adam Bourgeois Jr. ordered Davis held in lieu of $1 million bail Friday for aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
