A 20-year-old man who died Monday evening after being critically wounded in a shooting Sunday morning in the West Side East Garfield Park neighborhood has been identified.

Mario Cousins, 20, was sitting on a porch in the 3600 block of West Lexington about 6:45 a.m. when a male walked up and shot him in the head, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:12 p.m. Monday, police and the medical examiner’s office said. He lived in the 2700 block of West 15th Street.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member.
