Authorities are investigating a death in northwest suburban Barrington. | Network Video Productions

A father and his adult daughter were found dead in their home Tuesday afternoon in northwest suburban Barrington.

Harry Burroughs, 69; and his daughter Kathryn Burroughs, 35, were found dead in their home in the 500 block of North Avenue in Barrington at 4:11 p.m. Tuesday, according to Barrington police and the Lake County coroner’s office.

Both died of asphyxia, according to Lake County Deputy Chief Coroner Orlando Portillo. Harry Burroughs’ death was ruled a suicide and his daughter’s death was ruled a homicide.

The Cook County Major Case Assistance Team is assisting local police with the investigation, police said.
