A Jimmy John’s delivery driver had to be extricated from a car and airlifted to a hospital after a crash Tuesday night in southwest suburban Tinley Park.

The crash happened about 9:30 p.m. near Glenshire Street and 88th Avenue, Tinley Park Fire Dept. Capt. Ken Roemer told a reporter at the scene.

A car could be seen crashed into an electrical pole nearby.

The driver, a woman thought to be in her 20s, was pinned underneath the dashboard after the crash, Roemer said. She was extricated and airlifted via helicopter to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

She was conscious as she was being removed from the car, Roemer said.

The woman appeared to be a Jimmy John’s delivery driver, and she was apparently on her way to make a delivery at the time of the crash, according to Roemer.
