Authorities are searching for a driver who took off after a crash that left a 48-year-old woman dead late Friday in northwest suburban Morton Grove.

It happened about 10 p.m. on Golf Road between Washington Street and Shermer Road, with one vehicle “literally broken apart by the other,” according to a statement from Morton Grove police.

Denise Cavada suffered multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:55 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Authorities said she lived in Morton Grove.

An autopsy Saturday ruled her death an accident.
