Six people injured in an Eisenhower Expressway pileup Sunday night on the Near West Side.

The four-car crash happened about 8:30 p.m. in the inbound Interstate 290 lanes near Ashland, according to Illinois State Police.

Two people taken to Stroger Hospital and another pair taken to the University of Illinois Hospital were listed in fair-to-serious condition, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

Two more were taken to Rush University Medical Center, with one in good condition and the other considered fair, fire officials said. Another person declined medical attention.

Inbound traffic was briefly blocked near the crash site but all lanes were open by 9:15 p.m., state police said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
