A woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash Thursday afternoon in the Far South Side Riverdale neighborhood.

The two-vehicle crash happened about 3:14 p.m. in the 800 block of East 130th, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

An eastbound green Pontiac attempting to change lanes struck and overturned a Mercedes before it drove away, police said.

The 27-year-old driver of the Mercedes, Helenia Lewis, was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where she was pronounced dead at 4:40 p.m., police and the medical examiner’s office said. She lived in the 1300 block of Maryland Street in Gary, Indiana.

An autopsy Friday indicated that she died from multiple injuries from the crash, and her death was ruled an accident, the medical examiner’s office said.
