A man was shot early Wednesday during a robbery in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

At 12:18 a.m., the 51-year-old was walking on the sidewalk in the 5200 block of West Polk when he was approached by two armed males who announced a robbery, according to Chicago Police.

The robbers stole the man’s property and opened fire as they were leaving the scene, police said. The man was shot in the left leg and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.
