A gas station in northwest suburban Elgin was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday afternoon.

Police responded about 2:45 p.m. to the gas station in the 1500 block of of Big Timber Road for a report of an armed robbery, according to Elgin police.

A store employee told police that a male entered the business and showed a handgun before taking an undisclosed amount of cash and leaving the store, police said. No injuries were reported.
