Traffic on the Western Avenue bridge over the Chicago River will be reduced to one lane Friday night while workers pour a new bridge deck.
The lane reduction will take place from 9 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday, according to the Chicago Department of Transportation. There will be flaggers in place to direct traffic over the bridge.
Starting Monday, Belmont Avenue will be restricted to a single lane for eastbound and westbound traffic in the area until November, CDOT said. Left turns across traffic from Belmont onto Western will be prohibited. During the first weeks of construction the bus stops at Belmont and Western will not need to be relocated.
The work is part of the Western Belmont Clybourn reconstruction project, according to CDOT.
