A 60-year-old man was shot during an attempted robbery early Sunday in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

He was in a vehicle at 2:04 a.m. waiting at a stop light in the 5900 block of South Normal when two males, one of whom was armed with a handgun, entered his vehicle and attempted to rob him, according to Chicago Police.

A struggle ensued and the man was subsequently shot in the right hip, police said. The would-be robbers then ran away.

The man drove himself to Roseland Community Hospital and was transferred to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

The man was found unresponsive in an alley in the 10700 block of South Lowe Avenue, police said.
