A man was injured when a ceiling collapsed in a northwest suburban Des Plaines apartment building Sunday evening.

A 10-by-10-foot section of drywall fell on the man’s head while he was inside the apartment in the 10000 block of Linda Lane, according to Rob Palffy, district chief of the North Main Fire Protection District.

The man, whose age was unknown, was taken to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge where his condition was stabilized, Palffy said.

It was not known why the ceiling collapsed, Palffy said. The rest of the building remained inhabitable.
