North Shore native Conor Dwyer finished third in the 200-meter freestyle Monday, 0.58 seconds behind gold-medalist Sun Yang of China (1:44.65).

In the women’s 100-meter backstroke, Olivia Smoliga of Glenview finished sixth. American Kathleen Baker took silver, .30 seconds behind gold-medalist Katinka Hosszu of Hungary (58.45).
