A man was shot early Thursday in the Lathrop Homes neighborhood on the North Side.

About 4:20 a.m., the 47-year-old was walking in the 2000 block of West Diversey when a black Honda Civic pulled up and someone inside yelled gang slogans before shooting him in the abdomen and lower right back, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition, police said.
