A 28-year-old man was shot in the chest during a robbery Friday night in Lawndale, according to the police.

He was shot by a man who came up to him around 10 p.m. in the gangway of a building in the 1100 block of South Troy Street, the police said, and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.
