A woman was found dead in an alley Tuesday afternoon in the West Rogers Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The woman, thought to be in her mid-40s, was found dead shortly before 2 p.m. in the 6100 block of North Maplewood, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Her identity was not known and she was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Area North detectives are conducting a death investigation, police said.
