A man was shot in the Back of the Yards neighborhood Sunday night on the South Side.

The 37-year-old was sitting on a front porch at 10:33 p.m. in the 5400 block of South Damen when he heard gunfire and realized he’d been shot, according to Chicago Police.

He suffered gunshot wounds to the left armpit and back and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member.
