A man was shot and seriously wounded Friday afternoon in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The 19-year-old was standing outside about 2:30 p.m. in the 900 block of North Drake when an unknown person approached and shot him, according to Chicago Police. He was struck in the upper left side of his chest.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said.

A police source said he was a documented gang member and may have been shot during a robbery.
