A man was shot early Friday while driving on I-57 in the Far South Side Washington Heights neighborhood.

The 28-year-old man was driving on northbound I-57 just past Halsted Street about 4:45 a.m. when someone shot into his vehicle from a black Jeep, according to Illinois State Police. He was shot in the lower left leg and was taken to Roseland Community Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The two right lanes of northbound I-57 and the Halsted ramp were closed for investigation Friday morning, but have since been reopened, police said.
