A man was shot and seriously wounded early Tuesday in the Chatham neighborhood on the South Side.

The 29-year-old was walking down the street at 12:53 a.m. in the 300 block of East 81st Street when two males walked up behind him and opened fire, striking him twice in the back, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken in serious condition to Stroger Hospital, police said.
