A man was killed and a female was critically wounded in a shooting Thursday morning on the Eisenhower Expressway on the West Side.

The two victims were shot about 5:30 a.m. on westbound I-290 near Laramie Avenue, according to a statement from Illinois State Police.

They were found a few minutes before 6 a.m. at Flournoy and Lockwood and taken to Stroger Hospital, police said.

Jonathan Ortiz, 22, was pronounced dead at the hospital at 6:18 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 3100 block of West Monroe.

The female was listed in critical condition, police said. Her age was not released.

Police closed down all westbound I-290 lanes in the area for more than four hours for the investigation.
