No injuries were reported in a northwest suburban Streamwood house fire Saturday afternoon.

Fire crews responded to a call of a house fire about 4:39 p.m. in the 0-100 block of Regency Court, according to a statement from Streamwood Fire Department. When firefighters arrived, they saw heavy smoke coming from the rear of the house before striking the fire out with a hand line.

The residents escaped the home after their neighbors alerted them, but the estimated damage was $40,000, the fire department said.

The fire originated in the back exterior of the house and went into the attic, fire officials said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
