Woman found dead in Englewood

A 21-year-old woman who was found dead Tuesday morning in the South Side Englewood neighborhood may have been struck by a vehicle.

Shadara Sabria Muhammad was found outside in the 6900 block of South Wentworth at 8:02 a.m., according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Muhammad, of the 9800 block of South Harvard, was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:14 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

It appears she may have been struck by a vehicle. Police initially said she appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

An autopsy Wednesday did not rule on her cause and manner of death pending further investigation.

The police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating.
