A 23-year-old man was shot Tuesday afternoon in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

The man was outside just before 3 p.m. in the 5000 block of West Madison when two people approached him, announced a robbery and opened fire, Chicago Police said.

The victim took himself to Rush University Medical Center, police said. His condition was not yet known.
