Man shot dead in South Shore

A man was shot to death Sunday morning in the South Shore neighborhood.

Devon Caffie, 22, was walking about 11:10 a.m. on the sidewalk in the 6700 block of South Jeffery when two males got out of a Ford car nearby and opened fire, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Caffie suffered gunshot wounds to the chest, arm and back of his head; and was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:38 a.m., according to police and the medical examiner’s office. He lived in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side.

The shooters were described as two black males in gray clothing, police said. No one was in custody as Area Central detectives conduct a homicide investigation.
